Saga Expedition

This is the same article as last month but once they begin the expedition it will be updated on a regular basis (more regularly than this magazine).

Saga has just recently published an article in their magazine relating to a British climbing expedition up an "unconquered" 7000 ft mountain, known as Angel Wings, taking place between October 23rd and December 6th. It is situated in Chile, West Patagonia, South America. The mountain and the area around it is known to have the wettest weather in the world. A team of four brave climbers believe they can conquer it.

Saga has supplied them with a laptop, a digital camera and a satellite telephone so that their progress can be monitored, and followed, from a safe distance by anyone with an internet connection. They will be publishing a report and an account of each day's activities each night which can be read on the Saga web site.

The team will consist of; Nick Banks (one of the worlds most respected mountaineers),
Doctor David Hillebrand (an expert on expedition medicine),
Chris Smith (technical expert for laptop etc),
and Niall Washington-Jones (a primary school headmaster from Kent).

This expedition will be also be an exploration/study of the whole area. The team will be studying wildlife and plant life as well as producing an accurate measurement for the mountains height. The expedition will not be easy but via the internet you can encourage and cheer on the team to make sure they succeed in conquering this monster of a mountain.
