Old Man Of Hoy

Saga have just recently released another article in their magazine that I felt should be inputted into this e-zine.

This great pinnacle of rock is going to be a piece of history for Mike Banks, a 77 year old veteran climber. He has climbed the old man in the past but he is climbing again it for one simple reason, and that is to raise money for the charity, Westcare. It is a charity run by him to help support sufferers of devastating disease, ME. He was "volunteered" by a good friend, Dr. Richard Sykes to reclimb the British marvel. Even though he had climbed it before he was stilll feeling a little nervous.

Mike was very thankful to hear that he was not to be leading the climb. Accompanying him would be one of the finest British rock climbers, Emma Alsford (34), from Cardiff. She would be leading this huge rock so that Mike would only have to second.
