Chester Mountaineering Club Meet

Many young people are taking up climbing through climbing walls, but CMC membership has very few under 30’s although the constitution allows membership from 16.

To show young climbers what we have to offer as a club, it has been decided to hold a Youth Meet on 11-13 May 2001. It will be targeted at young people between 15 and 18 who have some knowledge and experience of climbing but perhaps have had limited opportunities to climb in North Wales with an adult organisation.

Several members have already volunteered to help. The BMC have produced clear guidelines for such events that we will follow. Children of club members are most welcome and the BMC, through its youth magazine ‘Gripped’, will help us find other local potential members.
